About
Know the road before you go
Hamba kahle means "go well". It's what we say when someone sets off, and it's what this site is for: helping you get where you're going with fewer surprises on the way.
Why we built it
Google Maps and Waze tell you how to get there. They don't tell you about the pothole after the bridge, which lane to be in before the off-ramp, where the trucks crawl up the pass, or where to stop for fuel on a long, empty stretch. That kind of know-how usually lives in WhatsApp groups and with the people who drive the road every day. Hamba Kahle Roads puts it in one place, before you leave.
What you'll find
- Route guides for popular long-distance trips and daily commutes: passes, tolls, fuel stops, risky stretches and lane tips, section by section. They're general guidance, last checked in October 2026, so always check official sources for closures too.
- Recent reports from other drivers: potholes, crashes, roadworks, robots out and more. Each shows how long ago it was posted, and drivers can tap "Still there" or "Gone now" so old reports fade away.
If a road has no reports, it doesn't mean it's clear, only that nobody has reported anything yet.
Keeping it trustworthy
Reports come from real drivers, so we keep an eye on them. Anyone signed in can flag a report that's spam, abusive, fake or shares someone's private details. Once three drivers flag a report, it's hidden while we check it. If you think yours was hidden by mistake, get in touch.
We also look after your privacy: report locations are rounded to about 100 m, and reports show only the name you choose to display. Read more in our privacy notice.
Drive first
Never use the site while driving. Let a passenger report, or wait until you've stopped somewhere safe. In an emergency, call 112.
Who we are
